Halt in the Process

Well, things here are slowing down.

I didn't get the position with Reiss' sorority after all. They were legally advised not to in the event of future problems. I respect their reasons. If anyone in the Ithaca area knows someone/somewhere I might be able to live with/at from mid-November to early January, drop me a line.
As for the GBR position....Cadet Command has postponed all BGR requests from schools until the accessions process is completed. Accessions is the process in which cadets fill out paperwork trying to compell cadet command to assign them to the branch of their choice; whether it be infantry, engineers, medical, etc. So I'm jobless until mid November at the earliest.

The good news.... I'm registered to take my PT boards on November 2nd. That means 4 more days of studying!!!! I'm not excited or anything.... NAH. I've been nose to the grindstone the last few weeks and dragging this studying process out way too long. It's about time I say. (at no fault but my own I should add) At least it will be done with and I can get on with things.

That's what's going on in my neck of the woods. I hope everyone else is doing well. I've heard that a few PT classmates have jobs and passed the exam. Also some of my friends in the military have started their OBCs or are finishing up. I hope everyone stays in contact. Drop a line every so often. We'll all meet up someday. The Army is a small world.

The first steps

You can tell by the span in time of updates that things have been slow. The new news is that I may earn some money before I head on out to Texas. Cornell Army ROTC is itching for me to be the Gold Bar Recruiter. I'm itching to get started but the orders are just taking their sweet old time getting put out. The interesting part of this whole thing is moving back to Ithaca. Thanks to Colleen Reiss, the former GBR, I may be the "House Father" for her old sorority Alpha Omicron Pi (AOPi). Fun, huh? Basically I live in the basement behind the kitchen and act as a responsible adult on the premises. Best part yet...free room and board!!! I'm just waiting for word from the house president for a move in date. Other than that I'm continuing my studying for my licensure. I should be taking the exam in the next 2 or 3 weeks. I just want to get it out of the way and move on with things.

For now it's study and wait. Anticipation is killer.

An inkling of my orders

Today I logged on the Army's internet thing called AKO. I can access all my personnel info through it. For the last 4 months or so I've been checking religiously for my OBC date to be published and today it was up (yesterday it wasn't)! I tentatively am scheduled to report to Ft. Sam Houston Jan 17, 2005. But before that I am going to work as the Gold Bar Recruiter for Cornell Army ROTC. The position is an assistant to the recruiter. I'll come up with ideas to promote the program to our extension schools and such; especially my alma mater, Ithaca College. I'm actually kind of excited to see what kind of impression I can make. I'm not the creative type so we'll see how this goes. Other than that, it's a job, it's money, and it's getting me in the system.
As for my licensure exam. I am still studying for that and have yet to hear from NY state about when I can take the exam. Good thing I'm not needed in TX until January.

I'll continue keep posts up as to my progress. Hopefully this is more successful for communicating than emails and such.

Looks like things are starting to come together.

the start

I'm starting this "blog" because I see that it is a good way to stay in touch with friends and family while in a time of transition. Here is my blog, opened for you. Enjoy.
