Wow... it's been over a month since I have last entered anything into this Blog. I guess I'll recap- On November 2nd I sat for my licensing exam for Physical Therapy. It was a difficult exam consisting of 225 multiple choice questions in a time alotment of 4.5 hours. I finished with a half hour to spare after reviewing some of the questions. From there it was a frustratingly long 3.5 weeks to hear about any results from NY state. There's a small story behind that also. Basically what it amounts to is that the examination board (FSBPT) says that the exam scores are available within 2-3 days of taking the exam because of the electronic testing medium. NY state claimes that the exam scores are available 6-8 weeks after taking the exam. WHY??? If the scores are available, why does NY state take so long? The problem of waiting 6-8 weeks would be that if I failed, I would have to study, re-register and re-take the exam and wait again for my scores. By then I would have been long into OBC in Texas. NOT GOOD!! Anywho.... I got them back the day after Thanksgiving, and I passed on the first try. Go me, now I'm a professional.
Thanksgiving came and went. It was very nice to be with family and friends. Deanna (my girlfriend of 4yrs 9mos) and I went to my family's place in Booneville, NY for the real turkey day. It was my first deep fried turkey. If you haven't had one, I highly recommend it. Not greasy what-so-ever. The rest of the food was amazing as well. The real difference in this turkey day compared to all the other was the presence of a 2 and 3 year old. They were off the walls. I don't know how my Aunt Sue and Cousin Kimmy put up with it every day. To round off the day, the Kimmy's 3yr old, Conner, after being told to stop climbing on the furniture all day tried to climb over my brother and fell and smashed his head on the corner of the coffee table. The tike was fine, he needed 3 staples to close the wound. But needless to say, it brought our visit to an abrupt end.
On friday, Dee and I traveled to Alfred, NY where her family is and we had our 2nd turkey day there. Equally good food, but more entertaining because it was Dee's sisters and their significant others/husband. (all generally between 23 and 30... aside from her parents). It was nice to see everyone because I don't know if I will see them before I head off to Texas.
As of now, all the holiday shopping is done. I'm pleased with what I got everyone. I believe this year, more than most, I got some quality gifts that will serve functionally as well as bring joy to those recieving. The only thing is that I am not as financially sound as I had planned on being. Through constant contact with Cornell Army ROTC, they have had some major issues with Cadet Command processing my orders to work as the Gold Bar Recruiter. Things kept getting pushed back. I'm sure by now, I am no longer eligible to serve the position. The upside to it all though....I get to spend the last month or so with my family and friends doing as I please and enjoying the last few months of rest before I work for the rest of my life.
That's all for now. As the holidays approach I wish everyone the best and I'll be updating throughout my training in Texas to let you all know what I'm experiencing, etc.
