Short update/new pics

Hey y'all. I got some artwork framed for the apartment. It's not much right now, but it is alot better than it was. Now there is something to look at other than white walls. You can check it out under a new folder in my yahoo pictures called "KY APT". http://photos.yahoo.com/cremirun I will start to include pictures from around the apt too, now that it's starting to get decorations. The decorations won't be totally done until Dee moves in around August. Until then, I'm gonna survive on what I have.

Other news.... My schedule at the hospital for patients starts on monday. I've been seeing walk-ins for the last week or so. Taking up some of the slack from other therapists when they get real busy.

I'd like to give a quick "Hooah" to my buddy Ryan Mowers who earned his private pilot's license the other week. Definately High Speed, especially in his quest to become a pilot for the Air Force. And I'd like to congradulate Amy McKenna for finishing an incredibally difficult (LONG) Master's thesis. One more step closer to the end. Go you. I'm excited for you.

Other than that... nothing much. It's been a relatively quiet week. Can't wait for Memorial Day though. That's the next time Dee visits.

Count down to the Kentucky Derby/Ryan McKenna visiting the Bluegrass State.... 8 Days.

What's new

It's been about 2 weeks since my last entry. There has and has not been alot to fill you in about. I'm moved into my apartment/townhouse in Louisville, KY. I bought a washer and dryer from Sears and I'm putting pictures/posters/artwork on my walls little by little. Slowly this place is turning into a home. It's amazing what a few little pieces on the wall will do to transform a blank white walled area into a living space. The washer and dryer are a clutch addition to the place. The 2nd weekend here in Kentucky and I was down to my last pair of underwear and desparately needed to do laundry. I spent an hour looking for a place to do my laundry. You would think that an area of the city with such a high concentration of apartment complexes would have more than 1 laundr-0-mat. This place was hidden too. Up some obscure road away from all the business. So now I can do my laundry in house and do other things while it's cleaning. Efficiency baby... I love it.

Dee came down last weekend for the first time. She liked the place. All the decorations were her doing. I don't dare put up my own b/c it will just come down in a few weeks anyway. We explored the area together and had a great time. We were at the mall on one of the days just to see what was there and we found a nice art showroom. They were selling the 50th anniversary Kentucky Derby Fest/131st Running of ... poster. The artist who created the image was at the showroom for an hour and half that day and was there when we were. He personalized the poster for us and signed it. Now we have special piece to hang up in our new home in Kentucky. It was very exciting. Now I have to wait until Memorial Day to do it again. Blah.

What else. I'm starting to see patients at work. Yup. Only 7 months behind my peers. I feel like such a loser. But during this week I've sat with a radiologist and a chiropractor in order to learn about what they expect of me when I order imaging films and when I refer to or get referals from the Chiro. The chiropractor also has volunteered his time to teach me some spinal manipulation techniques that I am authorized to do. (I am excited about this.) Then this friday I am going down to the pharmacy to learn about the drugs that I will be able to prescribe to my patients. Yup.... I get to write Rx for muscle relaxants and anti-inflammatory drugs. It's not much but it's more then the civilian PTs can do. This autonomy is one of the primary reasons that I signed up for PT in the Army. The staff and providers here in the Clinic are AWESOME and even within the hospital, all the other disciplines have been welcoming and supportive of teaching me something. This looks to be a rewarding experience. I'm excited to get established.

In other news.... only 16 days until the Kentucky Derby. Ryan.... If you need anything for me to do, let me know. I'll see what I can muster up.

Until Next time......

A different type of Cleaning

Howdy All. I am reporting to you from a totally new location. I am now living in Louisville, KY. I have PCS'd (Permanent Change of Station) from my "school" location (TDY - Temporary Duty) to my new home, Fort Knox, KY. ?YIPPEE? It's nice so far. I will put pictures up as a take them of where I am living and the Ft. Knox area. I haven't taken any yet because I have been in the process of finding then moving into a new apartment. The way the Army works, is that if you get approved for Permissive TDY, it gives you 10 days to look for and move into a home/apartment without deducting leave. Which is a good thing. I am currently taking a break from the cleaning up my messes around the apartment to write. All the boxes are unpacked and the furniture in place. There is only a matter of cleaning up some disorganized drawers and buying food.

The moving experience was something new too. I wasn't just moving into an apartment, I was moving out of my parents home. All through college I had stuff there. And I knew that I still lived there even though I was at school in my own habitat. Now it was different. I cleared just about all I could find from my home, to pack into a truck (that is very hard to drive in high winds) and take away to MY home. In some ways it was exciting. The final step to independence and being a "real adult". In other ways it was a sad day to move away from the home that I had had for the last 24 years, with the love of mom and dad just behind the turn of a door knob. That love and home are still there, but I know it will be a while before I can return. And when I do, it will be for a weekend or so. But it will be a great time. And that is for certain.

So for now, my life will consist of working at Fort Knox, and learning my way around Louisville.

To contact me, the email and phone number have stayed the same. The new address is as follows:
8710 Zachary Circle #7
Louisville, KY 40214

I look forward to hearing from you all. Keep in touch. This area of the country is beautiful and I don't object to visitors.
